“I was recruited to play D-1 soccer, D-2 basketball, and a few JUCOs offered me a tennis scholarship. I decided to play basketball and soon found out that about one-third of the team had transferred from JUCOs. It wasn't that they weren't good enough — in fact, they were excellent. JUCOs offer athletes, including Canadian players, a chance to get noticed, a place to raise their GPA, and an opportunity to complete core classes.
